1960's Premier Royal Ace Snare Drum

Loading...

I've recently finished restoring this 1960's Premier Royal Ace snare drum and would apprieciate any comments.

I haven't got any photo's of the drum before I restored it..It had been left in a friends garage for a number of years and was in a very bad condition. The hoops and nearly all the chromed parts were badly rusted, the snare wires were stretched and had a few strands missing.

Hi all,a quick update on the 1960's Premier Royal Ace,I've recently managed to obtain an original, never used, new set of Premier Double 10 snare wires for it.I've also put a lighter bottom skin on and it sounds 'F*****G GREAT'!!I'll post new photos later.

Cheers all.

Beautiful. I have never seen lugs like that before.

That is what really lights me up about this model Premier.

It's got, for me, a Retro-Faberge appeal that makes a big, classic, visual statement with a minimalistic design. It's enough to heartily grab the senses without being overbearing. I seldom "gush" in public, but I really dig the Royal Ace model in a big way.

Particularly fine snare drum Suggs, thanks for sharing

This particular seller kept quoting me a $120 shipping charge, but most other sellers I have contacted were in the $40 to $60 range for snare drums. I didn't understand it, so I just gave up.... can you shed some light on the shipping process and costs from the UK to the USA ?

Thank-you so very much

looks great.

iv got the same kit wish mine looked like that. also nice to know what my kit is called. was not sure if it was a 1954 or 1960 kit. my snare looks identical so im assuming its the same. how did you restore it? and how bad was it before?

Hi Suggs,

Nice job on the restoration.

They have a piece like that in the studio I'm working, but it's missing the top hoop and a couple of lugs.

Also, how did you manage to adapt the wires?

Cheers,

Lucas
