1960 Ludwig Pioneer Duco with case and stand worth?

Loading...

Hello there!

I have an opportunity to buy a 1960 Ludwig Pioneer Duco with original case and stand and I was hoping you guys can help me figure out what is a good price to pay for it.

The seller is asking $250, but I don't know if that is overpriced or not.

Thank you.

Condition excellent - looks like a bargain to me; especially with a vintage stand & case. You don't buy it I will.

It does have some engraving in one lug and also some paint chips. Looks nice though.

I hope I can get to it before he sells it.

I don't recognize that strainer. Looks like a p83 with a modification. I could be wrong.

The strainer is correct. Usually see those on some Trans badge drums. It one of the two different Large Pioneer P85s. Here is a pic from the '60 catalog.

It has a few paint chip damage spots as you can see there by the badge, too hoop and strainer. Also, one lug has a serial number engraved looks like.

How colectable are these particular drums?

That's a decent deal for that snare drum. If you do get it, i would lacquer it with some satin lacquer to protect the painted finish, while still keeping the drum in it's original state.. 2 coats would be enough..
