Vinny:

Flat out STUNNING! Bowing

I love that wrap.

Based on the year of the kit, it should be featured in "NOT SO" Modern Drummer.

THANKS for sharing the pic.

Are you the original owner? Any story behind this one? Just wondering.

Thanks guys for the compliments.........I am the second owner of the kit and its the only Leedy kit that we know of (Including Harry Cangany) that has ever surfaced in this finish....Its real hard to capture the true finish as in certain light it has a purplish hue to it and in other light it resembles the Gretsch Starlight Sparkle finish........Harry did a feature on the kit which should be in one of the next few issues of Modern Drummer...........Vinny

Vinny,

This is such a cool drum set - I remember this from a few years ago.

Did PDFrogman aka Frank your cousin have something to do in getting or finding the set for you, I am not sure but is that right?

Anyhow this is an Absolutely beautiful drum set!

Hi Mike,You are correct,My cousin Frank did the deal for the kit......The funny part about this is the day after the deal was done I see on ebay a 12" tom in this color and being such a rare color I grab it...Long story short when we get the drums in hand the 12 is a different run of the color so its a little different than the rest of the kit and neither drums have fade so thats how we know....its really not to noticeable, only in certain light........Vinny

I know that Leedy has history written all over it, but something about these 50's Leedy sets just have an extra cool mystique to me. Probably because of the music coming out in that era and that is when I was born. It also is a time when alot of cool and unusual finishes started showing up, and I think Slingerland/Leedy were at the front of the line for offering these cool finishes.

That is amazing that you got that 12" too. Cool drums from a cool company. Thanks for sharing those drums Vinny! Cool1
