This is a 1957 WFL mahogany shell I bought off ebay. The only match for the size and finish that I can find in a VDG 1957 Ludwig catalog would indicate that it is a Supreme Concert Snare. The original mahogany finish was in such good shape that I just touch it up and put on a couple coats of Minwax polish. I thought the mahogany finish would look great with polished brass hardware. I had some old bowtie lugs and WFL throw-off / butt plate around so I had them all brass plated, I added brass hoops and t-rods from DrumFactoryDirect.com. It has a Remo Renaissance Emperor batter, Remo Hazy Ambassador snare side, Ludwig 18 minus 2 wire snares. This snare has a great "crack" sound to it.
Update: I have recently seen the same model drum on ebay referred to as a "Student" snare.
