Ok...I really tried to trade for this kit more then a few times...and FINALY i was able to make a fare trade for both of us involved. I let a 20,12,14 rogers/cleveland go(which i never had a call for these sizes)in a great wrap...but still a 1957 Ringo Wfl 22,13,16!!! WOW!!! Upon first look at these beauties i was IN LOVE, w/a couple of extra holes in the bassdrum and floor-tom leg swap-out to plug/fix/restore(Chris i will see you soon)and in need of a proper bath...i struck my 1st trade offer deal...no diceToilet...even though i offered 2 full vintage kits,3 snares, and extras(good ones)DOH!!! Some 3 months later,im blasting through the local internet "CL" adds and find...HA...the same drums 4sale??? And called the new/old/original owner and began to offered the 2nd trade deal for these puppies...ALL MOST...but still no deal...THEN...another month or so goes by and in the same internet search...lurking out of the high desert...w/a turtle wax bath...and looking just a creamy and warm as ever...FOR SALE OR TRADE,1957 WFL BLACK OYSTER PEARL...ha ha ha...this time the fledgling young drummer wants to play and trades meCool1...now im a happy man and will NEVER EVER TRADE/COLLECT/SWAP/SELL/REFURBISH/Soap BoxBUY/UNLOAD/ or RESCUE;)...another vintage kit again in this life time or any other...UNTIL...i was ofered my old 26,13,16-1947 WMP Buddy Rich WFL kit back...but that is another story....

I often wonder how to identify these older kits. I hear Buddy Rich, Ringo and other names kicked around alot....

I really like my old kit too. WAY more than I ever thought I would...

Is very close to yours, but is a '58 with BDP...

Do you mean the actual model of the kit is a "Ringo"? Wasn't '57 pre-Beatles? Or are you just referring to the wrap being the same as Ringo's kits?

Anywho ... that's one be-yoo-tee-ful kit!! Nice job scoopin' it.

Yea...Just the color/pattern of the wrap is Ringo...Although im sure Sir.Ringo (was he knighted too???) was playing drums in '57...PREIMER DRUM...i would guess:2Cents:. Its just kinda nice seeing the date stamped 1957 (and so close to my birthdate/not year) inside these shells w/that classic creamy ringo wrapExcited...Now im off to find the matching snare!!! I know, I Know HA HA in my dreams...RIGHTGroup Hug..."LET IT BE"...and...may my quoting beatles, finding matching Ringo wrap snare mojo work its magic...for now i will have my morning Coffee Break2

That's got to be one of the first Oyster Black Pearl kits off the assembly line. They didn't sell many of them at first and this was about the first year of production with that wrap. Buddy, that's one seriously rare kit. I'm not sure what you paid for it, but I can tell you ... you got a great deal after factoring in the historical placement of the kit. Nice. Hang on to it and take very very good care of it.
