1954 Rogers Champion "Cadet"

I had to replace the hoops, one of the originals was badly broken. I went with two coats of mahogany stain and wiped each off almost immediately. Four coats of crystal clear enamel. Left a kinda "antiqued" look to them.

I think I have the model and year right, it's the only date for the badge in the Drum Guide.

I have had the pleasure to visit this rogers drum, It is a sweetie, I myself love old field drums they have charter that can't be beat!!! I also use them a lot on my kit, I have a DW 9000 series snare stand they only made for a short period that allows me to use up to a 10x14" snare with NO trouble,I am going to build a snare stand that will allow me to use a 12x15 soon!!Jumping2

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

Nice job, it looks fantasticClapping Happy2. I'm a big fan of old Field drums too. I've got an old WFL that I fixed up awhile ago and it sounds great

It is a Champion Cadet Model. The earliest I've been able to find this drum in print(see attached) is in the 1952 Suppliment "A" for the Grossman Catalog 50. The same photo Cadet model with price of $36.00 is in the 1957 Grossman catalog. Nice restoration. Peace, Gary

You are welcome. I sold off a few rare olde Luddys to get my hands on these old books. Looked further into the 60s. Found the same pic Champion Cadet in the 1963 Grossman catalog for $36 bucks. Same 1957 price still selling off the old stock. I don't have every year but did look further in the 1968G cat. He still shows that same badge on the page but the drums look like Ideal import 60s drums. Peace, Gary
