UPDATE:

I've listed them in the Trade section of the Forum.

Thanks for looking,

Gary

1954 Gretsch Red Sparkle Broadkaster 'Bop" drums - $1650usd.

Just bought these - cleaned them up and have to sell them. Got caught up on eBay and things got outta hand........

There is a 15" K Zildjian - the hats are MIJ pie plates. The original throne (I think) is there and the Hihat stand. The pedal is trashed - some of the heads are torn (calfhide). The wrap is in very good condition - only a few minor scratches/bit of rash - nothing noticeable. I spent hours cleaning the rust off the original snare stand. A very good deal for someone that is looking for some relatively rare drums;

BASS 14X20/SNARE 5.5X14 - with original Micro-sensitive Strainer with single point Butt End/9x13 and 16x16 toms. Floor tom has original legs -two of the rubber (stopper) tips are missing. The original (bass) Rail Mount is there - I bought a couple of new Carriage bolts - the originals were bent/stripped a bit. The hardware case is not in very good shape - not ripped but the leather straps are gone. The bearing edges are in excellent condition. The tom Stickchopper hoops are bent a little not too bad - there is a dent/ding in a floor tom Stickchopper hoop. Some of the lacquer finish is worn on the bass drum hoops. The drums are in very good overall condition. I have them priced to sell. I will be putting them on Craigslist in a few days. I have two other kits I will be listing in the near future. Thanks for looking. Gary

oops! Sorry guys, Just saw that I had the old price up here. I initially posted these on FB at $1350 but I've had so many people tell me that my price is too low that I raised it to $1650 on FB and forgot to change it here. Tim. I'd rather not ship these. I have a few locals interested but nothing firm as yet. It works out to be about $2000 Cad (converted from $1650) and that's about $500 less than what I have into them so far. No, Insane.....I don't want to split the set up but thanks for the interest. Gary

UPDATE:

I've decided to put these up for trade. I've posted in the Trade section on the Forum.

I've had no interest here and all the local interest has fizzled out.

Thanks for looking.

The local interest in these drums ALL fizzled out long ago and I did decide to keep them. I play them but I've switched out the rims that came with the drums and I'm using the Gretsch 302 (modern Stickchopper) hoops....very happy with them. I've heard a lot of negativity regarding Gretsch snare drums of this era. I've made a few comments myself mostly regarding the Micro throw-off. However, the Reproduction throw is good - not perfect, but a lot better than the original - and if you play around with the tuning, heads and snares you can make a 54 Gretsch snare drum sound pretty nice.
