1952 Leedy & Ludwig Marching Snare Drum

Loading...

I've decided to sell this recently restored Leedy & Ludwig marching snare drum. I purchased it with the intention of converting it to a large rack tom for a John Bonham style kit, but after some research discovered that it is quite rare and decided against converting it and restored it instead. It measures 12"x15" and has been re-wrapped in a finish called Continental Pearl, a wrap that I purchased from Precision Drum Company in New York. The original finish was a white pearl that was so yellowed and cracked, it needed to be done. This is a pretty close match to the original finish that I found under the lugs and seam of the original wrap. All hardware is original nickle plated and is in very good shape. New Remo heads have been fitted and there are recent gut-type snares fitted. The shell is a 3-ply maple/poplar/maple configuration with maple reinforcement rings. Interior of the drum has the original white paint and a date stamp that dates the drum to 1952. Leedy & Ludwig was a short lived company for the Conn company from 1950-1955, whereafter Slingerland bought the Leedy name and tooling and WFL bought the Ludwig name back along with all of its tooling to create the modern Ludwig drum company we all now today. This is a rare piece of drum history and needs a new home.

Asking $200.00. PM me if interested.
