1948-50 Slingeland Radio King

Loading...

Hello I am new to these forums and it seems like this is the right place to find info about vintage drums. I just purchased a Slingeland Radio King snare drum for $50. From what I can tell from looking at the badges on vintagesnare, com it was made somewhere between 1948-1950. It is in fairly good condition for a drum of it's age. The hardware is pretty good, no rust at all but the shell has black stuff peeling of it and i can't tell if it is the wrap or paint peeling or if it is one of the plies of wood. Should I try to resotre this drum (sand of the peeling wrap/wood) or just leave it as is and try to sell it on ebay or may be just the hardware. It has the radio king etching on the top hoop and the lugs are in good shape. any info would be greatly appreciated!!! I can post pics tomorrow if anyone is interested.
