My neighbors dad kept meticulous income records and she has these records from 1938 thru 1941 these were of course with the Ludwig family company of that time WFL, as seen on this short 1938 document (see below, it is in his own hand writing). He was making a little over $13.00 a week. The next year 1939 he made $749.41 for the whole year, but don’t let the numbers mislead you that was decent money for him back then. I’m not sure what the national yearly average income was at that time. He continued to work for the Ludwigs into the 1980s.
