The time has come for me to liquidate my drum collection as I'm looking at some pretty big life moves in the next month. I wanted to advertise this particular drum here as I know somebody on the forum will appreciate more than the "average" collector.
I'm selling my 7x14" Slingerland Radio King Snare Drum. I believe it is a Buddy Rich Artist Model Swingster. It has 16 nickel Beavertail lugs - most of them are okay, a few are slightly cracked and will need to be repaired/replaced. I have the heads completely loosened as I bought the drum a while ago and haven't had the opportunity to play it much or restore it, thus I wanted to relieve pressure from the lugs. The inside of the drum is immaculate, the bearing edges are very nice and it is finished in a walnut stain. I have no idea if this was originally a wrapped or duco drum – there is no evidence to suggest that. My suspicion is that perhaps it was ordered from Slingerland with an "antique" or "lacquer" finish, as advertised in the 1942 catalog. The rims are not stamped with "Radio King" but they do seem to match pictures from period catalogs.
Everything looks either original or period-correct, save for a few screws as shown in the pictures.
Please write me with any questions here, or via email (nac01317@sjfc.edu) and I will answer to the best of my knowledge.
I'm looking to get $550 plus actual shipping.
I also have the drum listed locally, so I am reserving the right to sell locally (Rochester NY). If you are local or would like to deal in person, I'm flexible and will gladly do business locally. I'm leaving the area September 20th.
For clarity, this is a single ply shell with reinforcement rings.
