Sorry I might of been confusing explaining it, I meant the threads that screw into the lugs not the head of the tension rods.Wayne
Ok...the tension rods are threaded but set into the lug inserts a little before the threads start.

The top mechanism works and feels exactly like a Ludwig or Leedy of the same era. The bottom mechanism is a little flimsy (but does function well) as compared to a Ludwig or Leedy from the same era.

They do not thread the entire shaft. This allows for proper use and wont let you tighten too far. People are known to bend the ears on the hoops over tightening heads.
