Some of you might have followed the clean up of this set in the restore section.

It's a 1930's Marius Renatus made in Belgium.

There isn't much to be found on the history. What I did found out is that Marius Renatus was a company that was active during the first half of the previous century.

Apparently the brand name came from the names of the founder's 2 children, Mario and Renata. One of them is still around I was told. Some of the hardware and 1 cymbal have the Sonorus logo on them. Sonorus is another Belgian brand that still exists and is based in the center of Brussels. It's a lovely shop where I bought the calf heads for this set.

Although there was some interaction between Marius Renatus and Sonorus and a lot of times, hardware from one could be found on the other, the owner of Sonorus explained me that both brands had their own separate business.

I'm corresponding with a fellow Belgian vintage drum collector who owes multiple Marius Renatus kits. I'll try to get more information and let you guys know if I find out more.

As a Belgium vintage drum enthusiast, you can imagine that it was a huge pleasure to work on this kit. I'd also like to thank the members for their good advice and valuable inputs.

Here's a whole bunch of pictures of the finished project, hope you like them.

Really cool and interesting set, Stef. You seem to be cleaning up on the European vintage drum market...kudos! Welcome to the 26" bass drum club. (At least, I believe this is your only 26 incher).

Or should I say swings?

Either way, it looks pretty darn cool. Any chance of recording a soundfile?

That set of drums would be the 'Perfect' Rock-A-Billy kit! For a basic; bass, drums and guitar rock & Roll band, you couldn't ask for a better set-up.

You did a nice job on those. I especially love the floor tom. Enjoy them...

John

Too many great drums to list here!
