Careful heating up old solder.

It could very well contain LEAD..............Yes Sir

Surely don't breath the fumes!

From stedi

J!m,... below you'll find a close up of the washers I used on the interior.Your suggestion to use longer screws will not work as the lugs are not screwed on from the back. You push through the lug and tighten with a nut.The washer will leave a mark but no other option I guess.

Interesting... I guess there is no option.

The drum looks great! I can't believe the age of it!

next update,...

I tucked 2 heads for the bass drum.

A thick goat skin for the batter and a thinner calf head for the front.

The heads probably still need to set in but the drum already sounds very good,... huge mojo BOOOM !!!

On the snare I tucked a very thin calf head for the bottom and I found 12" 16 strand wires. I also managed to fix the strainer so it stays fixed in the active position. Also this drum sounds pretty nice. I didn't try to crank up the heads so for now kept a fairly low pitch. It still sounds a bit chunky but the new head and wires most definitely made a huge improvement already.

as good as done,...

I cleaned up the metal parts and cymbals.

A lot of the nickel and chrome is gone but I guess that's normal for an 80 year old drum so I'm not planning to take it further than this.

all done,...

The only thing that I would like to do is get me a reproduction on the front BD head and install a light bulb inside.

Any suggestion on the artwork to use ?
