Full dress... shore is ugly, though.
1930s L&L Super Ludwig
yes, well back in the day I suppose their aesthetic was a bit...different...
Well...I've got the drum. The interior was date stamped 3611 (Nov 1936). As Mike suggested, this is a Silver Anniversary Super Ludwig - threaded lugs, solid mahagony shell. About the tension rods - the owner had been cleaning up the nickle hardware in order to make the drum a bit more presentable. He thought the task of cleaning the tension rods was too tedious, so he replaced them. Thankfully, he still had the originals.
I agree - it's not the sexiest drum I've ever seen, but it is nonetheless a wonderful drum, and sounds KILLER!
An original full dress first generation silver anniversary super for under $1000 is a great deal. Congrats. Now you're hooked...
I was actually able to talk him down to $500, which I considered to be a great deal. Drums such as this don't come along very often.
