1930-35 ludwig & ludwig streaked opal family

Loading...

Hi,

First off I hope all of you are doing well during this Corona craziness. Although I am home...the hobby continues.

Here is a family of Streaked Opal Pearl Ludwig snare drums in various models. I got these a while ago so it’s time for an article and photos.

1930-35 LUDWIG & LUDWIG 5 x 14 STREAKED OPAL PEARL SUPER-SENSITIVE MODEL

1930 LUDWIG & LUDWIG 5 x 14 STREAKED OPAL PEARL NEW ERA-SENSITIVE MODEL

1930-35 LUDWIG & LUDWIG 5 x 14 STREAKED OPAL STANDARD MODEL

1930-35 LUDWIG & LUDWIG 6.5 x 14 STREAKED OPAL STANDARD MODEL

SOME NOTES:

1. Ludwig & Ludwig Streaked Opal Pearl was introduced in 1930 and lasted until 1935.

2. I used 1930 as a start date on my drums because that was the data I found in Rob Cook’s Drum Colors The Rebeats Color Swatch Book.

3. I used 1930 only for the New Era-Sensitive for two reasons: 1. New Era-Sensitive Models were introduced in 1929 with the engraved “New Era-Sensitive” on the top rim whereas it is generally considered that the stamped “New Era-Sensitive” is 1930. 2.This model was only around from 1929-30.

4. Streaked Opal Pearl on any 5 x 14 Standard Model is a pretty rare finish as it is but on a New Era-Sensitive, a Super-Sensitive and a 6.5 x 14 Standard I put it as extremely rare.

Now excuse me while I go wash my hands...again.

Enjoy!
