What a wonderful gift from Bun. A good friend for sure. Beautiful drum Mike enjoy it.

My son uses Naphtha on guitar tops before they get finished. Once applied it shows him the grain and flame of the top. It evaporates and has no negative effects once finish (lacquer in his case) is applied. Gives him a good idea how the final product will look. Mike is that a actual ebony veneer or a simulated ebony finish of some type? Either way it's cool and something I've never seen. And again thanks for sharing your wonderful collection with us here.

I think it's a black lacquer finish.

Wow. That is simply elegant. I swear I can almost hear in my head what that sounds like with those calfskin heads. I'd use that for concert band or orchestral work any day.
