1917 Ludwig WWI rope-rod field drum Part 1 Last viewed: 7 hours ago

I recently restored this drum from eBay. Had been searching for the existence of this model drum for years. Mostly involved heavy cleaning, but I did end up replacing the rope, roller hooks, and heads. This was not the model contracted for WWI however given the info on the head the original owner probably purchased it while on leave in Chicago. The navy band at that time was at Great Lakes. I couldn't find any info on the web about this particular soldier, N.J. Dilger.

Got an idea,

Maybe you could find a local artist to hand paint and reproduce the original paintings on the heads?

Great work!!!

Surrounded by drummers here! (I am a guitarist.)
