1864 Snare Drum

Loading...

Here is an original 1864 Civil War Contract Snare Drum. It is an honor to handle the drum and play it! Great introduction to our July 4th Holiday next week.

It is for sale!

I just finished watching the new Ludwig 100th anniversary DVD/CD Rom combo.....and this drum was in Bill Ludwig II's personal collection for years and is featured in the "lost Bill Ludwig II interview" on the CD ROM. I can't believe that Bill Ludwig III would sell one of his father's prized drums! Bill II was a big Civil War buff and this was his baby. You would think that it would retain some sort of sentimental value to Bill III.......at least put it in a museum on loan....don't sell it Bill! DON'T!

It is a nice drum. It has to go and believe me when I say it pains BIII, but whatever the general public thinks about the Ludwig family, they are not rich like they were in their hey day.

Also another FYI, the current company really does not want anything to do with the Ludwig family.

Or shall I say they want what ever they can get for free.

So everyone out in the Ludwig community should understand that the history we love is not loved by corporate America except when the bottom line is concerned.

You would think that in the least the company would present the last generation Ludwig with a 100th anniversary drum.

That DVD was produced by the people that love Ludwig drums and they did it for the love. Need I say more, even the most famous drummers did it for the Love and to be part of the history.

Sorry for the soap box, but this is a good way for the general public to understand that what they think the situation is, it is not.

Or better yet, what we would all expect and hope for is not the way it is.

I set up a Facebook Fan Page for BIII and I'm trying to really get the Ludwig fans to join and show corporate America that we support the Ludwig History not what is happening now.

These are pretty aggresive yet kind public statements that I'm making and believe me, I'm holding back.

It is up on Ebay at the moment. Kind of generating interest and seeing who contacts us. We had an earlier offer, but the person could not swing the money.

I'm selling it on his behalf.
