1800s vintage snare Wurletzer

Loading...

I got this drum at an auction. From what I have learned thus far Wurletzer produced drums in the late 1800's for the military. Anyone have any more info on this item? On the bottom head is a signature: "m.a.starr"Here are some photos.

Neat find, especially given it still has a badge on it. if it goes back to that century, it is very late, late 1800's....

Nice piece, not worth much as far as vintage drum market value, however. Even one in good shape could only fetch $100 on a good day.

...nevertheless, a cool piece of history....

Nice rosewood sticks, too!

I'd nickname that drum "Rusty"!;)
