18'' root beer bass drum id

Loading...

I have just bought this centre lug root beer swirl bass drum, has wooden hoops with inlay and a rail consolette, every thing looks original, the claws look a bit 70's, but the lugs are not typical pearl or star stencil stuff, or are they? the best match I have is a Riviera snare that has the same lugs all though smaller.

Hello alot2008

I have seen the lugs before

The 18" bass drum makes me think

it was possibly part of a scaled down kit made for a younger kid

someone had a Star kit or at least a partial with a bass about that size

In any event the small size and the root beer wrap makes it a rare find

Good Luck with it

It's not the Junior Star kit... But you should put up a better Pic... someone will shed some light...

Cheers

The thing I don't recognize is the tom mount. On most MIJ kits with consolettes the part that attaches to the consolette usually wraps around onto itself, with a bolt tightening them together. This one is "squared off". Not sure I've explained this well...I've just never seen the bottom of a tom holder like that one.

Thanks for your thoughts, I have just discovered that the snare has the same strainer as a hoshino snare that I have, might explain the lug not being typical pearl/star. I know for a fact the t/rods and claws are not original.
