Here's how you make wood hoops for a 17":
Buy (4) 18" 10-ply hoops...and cut 2 of 'em to fit inside the other two. Clamp & Glue the b'jesus out of 'em, then plane/sand the edges smooth and level afterwards...
And that will hold in a 17" head perfectly.....only thing to make sure of is using claws which can get around the thickness of the hoops...but there are plenty of styles which work.[/COLOR]
