I own a beautiful blue sparkle 15" x 6.5" LUDWIG snare drum, B/O badge # 1540630 (1978). I was wondering if anybody has any information on this drum due to it's unusual 15" diameter.....

Concert snares can occasionally be found in 15" diameters, like the School Festival and Auditorium models in the attached scan from the 1975 catalog.
The scan comes from the Vintage Drum Guide's catalog collection. You might be able to find your exact drum browsing through there.

The 15" diameter is unusual to set drummers, but not concert drummers. Especially in decades past. They are nice drums and usually fetch a hefty price.
