Greetings,
I thought it would be fun to line up all the 12" Splashes I own (12 to be exact-good symmetry). I recorded a video and posted it on my You Tube Channel (the first video I've ever posted to my account).
I realize some of the cymbals aren't vintage, but it was fun to set them all up and play them. There is a description along with the video, but I'll copy it here as well:
The cymbals in the back row (higher) are numbered 1-6 from left to right. The cymbals in the front row (lower) are numbered 7-12 from left to right. It's the same order that I play them in. Here is the list of the cymbals, along with their gram weights:
#1-Sabian AAX-318 grams
#2 70's A. Zildjian-366 grams
#3 Sabian SR2 Thin (looks like HHX Hammering)-394 grams
#4 K. Zildjian Brilliant (late 80's-Mid 90's)-424 grams
#5 Wuhan (1st Generation)-416 grams
#6 Alejian (probably 60's)-338 grams
#7 Sabian HHX Evolution-396 grams
#8 60's A. Zildjian-386 grams
#9 First Stamp A. Zildjian (late 40's)-342 grams
#10 Hollow Ink A. Zildjian (1977-1983)-390 grams
#11 Extra Thin A. Zildjian-352 grams
#12 Block Ink A. Zildjian (1983-1993)-380 grams
Let me know which ones were your favorites!
I like them all of course, but if I had to choose, I would pick the Wuhan (#5), HHX Evolution (#7) and the Block Ink A (#12) as my favorites.
This was fun to do and I am thinking about doing more of these videos, with different size splashes, crashes, rides etc. Please give me your feedback and let me know if you would enjoy this sort of thing.
I prefer the comments from VDF members are replies to this thread (as opposed to commenting on the You Tube video directly). It will help me "keep 'em separated". That being said, if you comment here, please feel free to also comment on the You Tube video itself, if you're so inclined.
Thanks and enjoy!
V
