1000th Serial Number Slingerland!

Loading...

Hey there, new friends!

Today I am hoping to gain a little insight about this one snare I have been blessed with. I have spent the afternoon looking at it, researching it, cleaning it up, and fixing some things that were slightly in need of repair. It is an early 60's Slingerland, 3-ply, Artist Model Snare with a White Pearl finish, and a Zoomatic strainer. It bears the Black and Brass Niles Oval Badge (implying it was produced between 63-69). The exciting thing to me is that it is stamped with quite a low (and even) serial number. It was the 1,000th drum produced by Slingerland in Niles, Illinois. I would just like to ask you all to fill me in on the significance, if any, of having a drum such as this with a considerably low serial number... I am hoping to discover it's value out of curiosity, though I may never part with it, as it sounds significantly better than any other snare I have ever owned.

Any idea what it is worth?

Thanks for your help,

Nothing extraordinary about the serial number ... other than it's pretty cool.

Most of those have been moving for under 200. Nice snares.
