Great looking kit! My Star kit has metal bass hoops that I believe were original, but it is an acrylic kit, so maybe they used both metal and wood, or maybe yours have been replaced...Ralf will know for sure. Either way super cool kit!
BTW- A guy on Ebay does retro Star logo decals for the bass drum, they are cheap, and look cool.

Hey thanks Mr.Toast. All the Star kits that I have seen so far had metal hoops so I think they are non-original. Anyway, the wood looks quite cool as well. Thanks for the tip off on the Star decal. I will definitely check it out.

Great looking kit. I have 3 star kits. Blue mettallic 12 13 16 22..Full chrome clad super rare 12 13 16 22..and a red silk pearl 13 16 22. These star drums as mentioned sound absolutely great. As for hoops yes they were metal hoops. .....sean

Hey thanks Sean. The hoops on mine are one black and one brown- actually looks quite cool. Since I doubt I will ever find inlays of the same wrap as the drums, I will just have to live with it I suppose
