Hi folks
Just want to get confirmation that this kit is I believe an XPK ? Sorry about topic error....meant to say 1990's?
I see black interior showing inside the kick drum.
Anyone have a review on the sound of these?
Seller asking $450
Thanks, Phil

Ive only ever known XPKs to have the short lugs
Most XPK/APK lines had the long 1 piece lugs (late 80's through to 1996) It was only the last series released in 1997-99 that had the small separate lugs.
The kit in the pic look like a '91-'96 XPK in Black Wood. Phillipine mahogany shells with birch outer ply
If it's wrapped, it's an APK, if lacquered, XPK. This kit is from late 80s/early 90s.
The original Royale APK kits from mid 80s had separate lugs, the 1446-20 "speedboat" lugs. After the merger with Yamaha they reverted to the traditional, long Premier lugs and the smaller, low-mass 6200TT lugs arrived in 1997.
When it´s black painted inside it´s an APK! They were made with Eukalypthus wood and some other wood...don´t know yet.
The best indicator mikeellis already mentioned, when they are wrapped APK...laquerd XPK :-)
But for me the kit on the pic is neither of them!

Christian
Only the 1997 small lug models had eucalyptus shells.
