I'm looking for some Star/Drum Mate lugs

Loading...

Hi all in the vintage drum world.

I've recently started my first vintage restoration, a Drum Made kit in grey pearl, 20/14/12 and 14 snare.

The wrap and shells are looking fine (after a littlle bearing edge filling, sanding and oiling) but a few of the lugs are rather pitted. I was wondering if anyone had any for sale?

It's this type here...

Cheers in advance, just PM or reply.

I've been told this kits are late 70s and they were a "star" stencil brand. I'll get some pictures up soon, but I'm still waiting on heads and hoops. I also need to buy some new inserts as they don't take a modern regular 7/32 lug.

Andrew where are you located? I have some of the small type lugs. How many do you need? You can have them free and I'll cover shipping in the US 48. If your elsewhere you'll need to cover the shipping. :)

Hi Glenn,

That's a really generous offer, thank you so much.

I'm afraid those aren't quite the right lugs, they are pretty similar but not an exact match it would seem, which is a shame.

Thank again for the offer however, this forum seems like a really good friendly place.

I'm in London, England btw.

Thanks, will do pictures soon. I'm still waiting on hoops, heads and inserts but the wrap is amazing quality (athough very slightly transparent...) so it should buff up well.

Mike, I was looking for bass and tom lugs.

Not sure of numbers, it'd really depend how many people had that were better quality than the ones I got and price, but perhaps 5/6 bass drum lugs and 8/9 tom lugs.

There's one bass drum and one tom where the chrome is just going, so that'd be a priority, but there are quite a few others that although look fine from a distance are pittted and feel pretty rough.

Just trying to make sure this kit survives another 40 years...

Thanks for all replies,

Cheers,

Andrew

I'm still looking for lugs, toms in particular if anyone has any? Thanks for all messages so far. I've just set up the kit and it's pretty awesome looking. Not sure sadly I have the space for it, but might have found a local hall/church that I can lend it to. Just be happier knowing the lugs ain't gonna rust up.

I changed the lugs to 7/32, but have spare t-rods and inserts if anyone wants them?

Cheers,

Andrew
