Identifying my pearl drums

Loading...

I have a problem identifying the serie of my pearl drums. It's a maple lacoquer finish and it's coated with some sort of lacoquer inside the shell. It has standard hoops and not super hoops. My set includes 8"x10", 10"x12", 11"x13", 12"x14", 16"x16", bd. 16"x22" and sn. 6.5"x14". The attach picture is my 12" and it has serie nr. 231647. I think it's a dlx but it doesn't say dlx on the badge, which it's normally does. The wlx serie is made in taiwan, as far as I know, but it says "made in japan" at my badge. Hope someone can help fixing my problem.

Best Regards, Erik

I think this is the same as one of my kits. I'm not sure what the range is called but when I bought it back in 1992 (secondhand) I was told it was called the professional series. Mine dates from around 1980-82 I understand. I don't think the serial number is much help in dating. Pearl didn't record dates/serial #'s as i understand. For the record, my kit is 22, 12, 13, 16, and a 14X6.5 matching snare. My kit has travelled the world with me and seen its fair share of action along the way. I plan to one day give it some love and attention as it's a bit battle scarred. They are a really robust kit.

I thought I did wrote back to you, but I seems I haven't. Thanks a lot for you answer, I think after your information and a bit of surfing, I could be the genesis serie. Tjek the following links if you want to

you did reply Eric. You could be right about the genesis theory although that sounds like a terrible name. my kit is a standard 5pc kit. Good quality. Don't be afraid to try an older 60's Pearl kit with cheap luan shells. They can actually sound great and are quite durable too.
