1941 Ludwig Snare
Hello everybody. Newbie here. I posted a couple of times in the non-USA vintage drum section but I wanted to get my feet wet here too, since I love me some fine vintage USA gear!
So my first humble contribution will be my 1941 Ludwig snare drum. She's 7X14 and has a most wonderful vintage tone. Even better than the drum itself is the story of how I acquired it. My dear friend Roger is a real pro... a former casino drummer in Reno, NV for 20+ years who moved to my town to be close to his wife's family. Without making this story too long, he let me borrow this drum. I called him to let him know that I wished he wouldn't have lent it to me, because it was just way too bad-ass for me to ever give it back. Roger then called me the next day to let me know that he was GIVING me the drum. I still choke up thinking about it. Anyway, this lovely lady is one of the centerpieces of my collection. I'm including a link to my band's reverbnation page. If you listen to the song "Halcyon", it was recorded with this snare drum and I think it's the perfect sound for that song. The Bird Channel reverbnation Cheers, Ryan |

Yes sir, truly an amazing gift. Sounds like you've got a similar story. What kind of snare were you gifted with, Bob?

Re: 1941 Ludwig Snare
I also have a 41 Ludwig snare! WMP, also made in oct. of 41! however the inside of my shell is painted white. Im assuming the paint on the interior is original as the date stamp (4110) is not covered. I'll try to get some photos of it on here soon.... gotta get a new computer first.
