I apologize if this has been covered before, but I couldn't seem to find it using the search function.

Anyone know what kind of arm went into this holder? The drums have no badges and have natural interiors with re-rings. The sizes are 13" and 22" (no floor tom or snare). The bass drum has an additional re-ring down the diameter of the center. What kind of arm does this hold? Is it a thick, flat piece of metal, similar to a "slide track" tom holder (like on some DW and Taye kits)?

Anyone know the manufacturer? The tom holder is a "Pearl style" arm (appears to be 3/4" tubing) and the wing screws for the tom holder on both the bass drum and the rack tom are the Premier style "hockey stick blades". Slingerland copy lugs.

Anyone have one for sale?

Hello V the bass drum you have is built by Hoshino Kougyou and is of an earlier build. The cymbal arm is "L" shaped but the lower part of the L that goes into that lever and bracket is a lot longer than a Star or Pearl style L arm. If I recall, there is either no diamond knurling on this section or very little. I think I have one kit with the entire arm in my bunch. It is sometimes a tough item to locate. Love that bass do you have the snare and toms as well ? ...Kenwood

That picture of yours is exactly the kit I have! Same tom holder as well. It looks like the "Pearl Style" tom holder is 3/4" on one side (that goes in the bass drum) and possibly 5/8" or 1/2" on the other side (that goes into the tom). It originally was only the bass drum (22) and rack tom (13). I found a "Regency" branded snare on Reverb for $40 and the lugs and wrap are an exact match. Need to find a 16" floor tom. I believe Precision sells that exact wrap called "Antique White Pearl". I took a lug off the top of the bass drum and it looked virtually the same as the shell, so the wrap was purposely made to look old and yellowed. I also noticed the shells seem to be painted white underneath the wrap. These shells are very well made with good re-rings. The bass drum has a third re-ring down the middle of the drum.

Do you happen to have a matching 16". Does anyone?

Hello V so sorry for this super delayed response I seldom log in lately and the last time I did the whole site was down. If you refer back to my photo The floor tom is without it's odd sized legs and the wrap on that one drum is fractured very badly The white paint is essential to the MIJ version of white marine pearl wrap especially. As it is produced to be translucent, the pearlescent part of the pattern is in the wrap, but the white is really produced by the white paint which shows through the translucent wrap. Not all mij white marine is done this way some is indeed solid material. I have also seen white paper under the translucent wrap. I think what is most likely, the paint may have yellowed with age and is why the wrap appears to have yellowed even under the lugs I do not think back when the drums were built that they were purposely ageing the wrap for a drum set primarily produced for youngsters. The missing floor toms, as you know are always a huge frustration especially so with wmp and compounded by those Hoshino K drums being of the earlier variety. Thanks for the reply Kenwood. I never thought about the white paint yellowing with age. There is paint on the shell, as I see some stray white paint on the shell near the bearing edge. It is still white, maybe because it has been covered by the head all these years?

I just ended up wrapping a poplar shell 16" floor tom. I primed the outside of the shell with white primer just to be consistent. The Antique White Pearl from Precision is opaque so I probably didn't have to. The color is a close match but it is not as "yellowed" as the rest of the kit. The pearl/swirl pattern is an exact match. I'll post a picture when I have them set up.

I also believed I solved the mystery of the cymbal mount, when working on another MIJ kit recently that was exactly the same construction as the subject of this post. The mount was missing a piece! See the picture below. It was missing the "dog ear" that is the same piece that is found on rail mounts that holds the L-arm/tom arm and locks the angle in place. The piece for the cymbal arm just doesn't have a protuberance on the back to lock into the gear/clockface of the rail mount; otherwise it's exactly the same. This piece sits directly on top of the piece in my initial post. It seems to be for 3/8"/9.5 mm L-arms, but when I inserted a 3/8"/ 9.5mm cymbal arm into it, I couldn't get it tight enough to hold. No matter how much I tightened it using the "baseball bat" handle, the arm was still loose. Maybe my dog ear piece got stretched out or maybe a 10.5mm arm would work better. Anyway, another solved mystery!
