I'm not sure that Sabian Cymbals qualify as "Vintage" since they've only been around since the early eighties, but...

I've been looking for information about this cymbal, and I can't seem to find anything.

I found lots of Manhattan Jazz Rides or HHX Manhattan Jazz, etc, but nothing on this particular cymbal.

Is it that unique?

Sabian Hand Hammered HH Manhattan Ride 18"/45cm
Sabian Canada Stamped
Numbered and Signed under the bell
Seems very light, although I weighed it with an old food portions scale, so not sure how accurate it was... looks like 1260g?

No, not that unique; there are 15 up on e-bay at the moment. The Manhattans are thin cymbals, so 1260 is not out of the ordinary. Nice cymbal, BTW.

Strange, I checked Google and eBay and only found one other one like it.

Google showed a couple of older posts and possibly a youtube video of this same type of cymbal (although this one is listed at 975g):

and eventually led me here, where you can "ask a question, get an answer".

eBay tells me "0 Listings" for Sabian Hand Hammered Manhattan Ride, then lists a bunch of other different cymbals?

I think my confusion lies in the name change from Manhattan Ride to Manhattan Jazz Ride, same difference right?

I also emailed Sabian Customer Service yesterday, and got a reply today! I wasn't expecting such a quick response from them, what a great company!

"This is one of the original Manhattan Rides from the mid to late 90s. This was made with the large HHX peen long before we officially had the HHX line. The number under the cup is not one of ours. This may be a stock number that the store is using for the cymbal. The 1260g weight would be average for this cymbal since it was originally intended to be a lighter ride for Jazz players. These were not huge sellers in the 18" size... the 20" and 22" models sold much better."

So, now I know!

Sabian didn't mention the signature under the bell in their answer. It isn't thought to be something like the signature of the particular cymbal maker involved. More a "quality control passed" mark. It is nicknamed the "Vinney" because that's the way people read it. The HH series all seem to have it unless it has been removed by overzealous cleaning.
