I’ve seen the issue on both drums. Just a bad lug design. Both ends are being pulled on and it begins to twist.

Yes, I tend to agree with O-lugs explanation. The lugs fit tightly, the holes are perfect. The t-rods fit fine and the drum has been played for nearly twenty-five years with no issues. It sounds great! I am now wondering how this slight deviation was not detected at the factory! Oops! sorry, guys. I'll just drop it. Thanks everyone for weighing in! Brian
