I have a COW set (no Ludwig) which I use for gigs: it is somehow extremely 'magnetic to people's hands', who are trying to put their lardy finger prints on it ... awesome.

Great kit!! I have the same kit if your BD is a 24. When I play the kit people just love the sound of it....nice and loud! Stainless Ludwigs don't seem to get the same respect as 3 ply Ludwigs. It's a great sound just different from 3 plys. I play rock and roll and its great for that. Most of the time I don't use microphones and when I do soundpersons (we have a female soundperson) say they are easy to mix and sound really "BIG". In the picture I'm just using one mounted tom and one floor tom because of the small stage.

Yeah I am really starting to value my kit ever since I've joined this forum.
It seems that on VDF people appreciate the few SS kits that are out there.
I have heard others tell me that they don't like the sound nor the finish.
The kit was played hard and often by a professional drummer all through the 70s here in Central NY. Carpal tunnel stopped him dead in his groove and they sat for some time until he dropped the hint that he would sell them. I really wanted a vintage wood set but decided to adopt his SS outfit. Considering the heavy usage, they were in good condition. He always used cases.
Are there more sets of SS on this forum?

I totally love this one, 79 Stainless Steel with a very uncommon and hard to find virgin bass drum that came with this 6 piece set, but I only use the 14x24", 16x16", 16x18", and either the 9x13" rack tom or the 12". When VM2k said there is nothing on Gods Green Earth that can compare, he wasnt kidding...The projection and clarity are legendary, and to make these sets today with Marine Grade Stainless Steel would cost a small fortune, and no doubt would have to sell for more than most are willing to pay. That was the problem in the 70s. The only toms that ever were able to come close were the L.A. Camco's, with typany styled bearing edges, and undersized shells, they too had an amazing amount of projection, with no bass drum even coming close to the power of the Stainless, especially in a 24 or 26" with a solid maple beater...

Your set, that kit lounging by the pool and and that chrome octopus left me speechless! And the tale told by Dno around March of 2010 made for excellent reading.
Excuse, me but I have to go and put in a Led Zeppelin disc and play along. Loudly of course.
