Hey VDF,
I recently purchased a yellow lacquer Superstar 16x22 bass drum that was part of a kit that Tama made for an endorser. It was part of a 10/14/22 kit, but by the time I saw the listing, the other pieces had sold. Anyone know of ANY other Superstar drums in this finish? I'm including the picture of the kit and the link to the drum I purchased. Thanks! Seen this one on eBay as well in the past, too bad those toms were sold separately. Would love to have a bop vintage Tama kit in ANY color, very rare to find...

That may have been a Japan only color. I've only seen it once before and it was on a " Bumble Bee " kit. Half black, half this yellow. And that I know was a Japan only.

I've been keeping an eye on ebay and reverb, but even when I do a google search I can't find any other yellow superstar drums. There were some starclassics made in Yellow (Bill Bruford) and that guy from the band Battles has an Artstar kit in yellow. It's kind of surprising that with so many high profile drummers using yellow drums (Tony Williams, Dennis Chambers, Bill Bruford, Jimmy Chamberlain) there aren't more out there.

Here are my 1982 Swingstars. Have not seen any others. Best of luck on your search and will watch for Superstars.

Hi I know I'm a little late to this thread but I have a Sunny Yellow Tama Kit I bought new in 1983. I saw those yellow drums on ebay and wondered where they came from because Tama only Made Sunny Yellow available in the Swingstar Line in the 1980's. Your Drum was custom being a superstar in Sunny Yellow. Tama did make the Sunny Yellow lacquer available again in there Star series drums in I believe in the late 1990s. I will try to upload a picture of my drums. they are a 1984 model year. I never see the sunny yellow color on ebay even in the Swingstar series and I have been looking for years. Hope you can find some good matching Superstar drums.
