Besson 1920/30s snare drum

Loading...

Hello

I'm currently renovating a 1920/30s Besson Snare drum. Sadly it's 14.5" diameter and I have to source new heads. Any ideas please? I'm in UK.

There seems very little information out there on Besson drums of this period. I have contacted the Horniman Museum and the UK Boosey & Hawkes representative and they have no info, no old catalogues showing this drum.

I also need to source an appropriate snare screw. Not a throw off as this I believe would not be appropriate to this model.

Many thanks for taking interest.

For some reason I can't upload my images.

Potters in Aldershot may be able to help with the custom calf heads. I have no idea about the snare screw. Perhaps Potters or Footes in London can recommend vintage drum folks. I have no idea how to get in touch with Sticky Wicket but he seems to be a major vintage drum collector. Good luck.
