Default Where is everyone?

The last new post on this section of the forum was three days ago. Where is everyone? Has some sort of drummer's rapture taken place, and I'm the only person who was not swept up to drum heaven?

I'm still here! No "drummer's rapture" yet!!

I know that this has been a recent topic concerning the lack of posts here at VDF. I do frequent the site daily, even multiple times a day! I reply when I know I can help with a topic I'm familiar with. I guess it comes down to the reality that the vast amount of questions about our vintage drums that can be asked, have been asked and it's more a matter of finding that information.

I have some projects in the works that I need to post pictures here for others to see. It's just a matter getting it done!

While sites like DFO have considerably more traffic, it tends to cover a wide range of topics, while VDF caters to vintage only. And, to be honest, I find many of the topics generated at DFO to be just silly! But, hey, that's me!

I'm always checking in, but I have run out of new discussion topic ideas.

Check here at least daily. Offer a response when I have something to contribute.

Kind of like now.

That probably sums it up! We certainly enjoy sharing our knowledge with questions from new members, but we've found that almost all questions have been asked and answered. It's just a matter of searching. It's that searching that can lead to frustration, so just go ahead and ask questions and are loyal VDF members are here to help!

I'm an old retired guy with a lot of time on my hands--especially during this hermit phase because of the pandemic and the multitude of unmasked and unvaccinated fools in this part of the country. I love the active discussions here
even when the topics center on minutiae about brands of drums that I don't like or feature the same three guys trying to sell us some of the many vintage drums that they have amassed.

I agree with each and every comment made, and I am also retired now in my 70s.
As for every topic being discussed already, the sentiment is the same in the Ford Mustang hobby as the members of those forums are saying the same thing. My take on the subject is that it can be said about any interest or hobby supporting a forum such as this. Ditto goes for the magazines that support the hobby, however, the publishers for many car branded mags chose to end publication a couple years ago. I think that is one more nail in the coffin to diminish the number of young people getting involved. Eventually repetition starts to creep in, especially after subscribing to the magazines for some 40 years. But I have also compared the mag articles over the years and even though the subject is the same in similar articles, there is always some small additional bits of information that were not included earlier or wasn't known earlier.
I recently returned to the drum hobby and this forum and I am enjoying all the topics and the accompanying photos. Especially now that I'm not playing much, VDF fills a bit of the void. Through the years I have been more interested in the drums from the 60s forward, but now I am delving into the older or antique drums and expanding my knowledge.

I would also like to say thank you to VDF members that since I've become active, I have felt accepted. I don't possess an expert level of knowledge of collecting, so I am here to learn and contribute what I can.

I try to answer questions when I can, but I have a limited collection of drums that I can talk about at length....and already have done so...many times. Like, my Arbiter AT drums....I always wanted to talk about them, but most people weren't interested in them or didn't like them, so I was a man standing out in the middle of a field on most of those discussions -with crickets chirping.

I thought the recent Barrett Deems thread was great!
