I can't find any info on re-rings on early APKs and they never had them later, from the high-tension lug period. Again, I'm assuming they are birch and probably with a sandwich of meranti. The APK/XPK line has had several shell compositions, most of which had inner plies of asian woods.

Paiste cymbals from the 70's almost all had black logos, i think the blue-label 602s being the exception. That makes it al little hard to recognize a model from these pics (if the cymbals were purchased around the time of the kit). Wish I could help more, but info on these early APKs seemed limited. I'm also wondering if there were also different model names for the North American market. Maybe they didn,t want to market the name Royal in the US?

This drums are in europe. I asked the seller to send more photos and the sizes of each tom and bass drum. Later I will post the pictures here.

By the way, the owner is selling another Premier kit (attachment).
The hardware and cymbals are included, 2 Sabian and 1 Zildjian Z.

I have some news. The seller called me and give me the approximate size of each tom and bass drum. Seems to be the following sizes:

Bass Drum: 22"x16"
Tom 1: 12"x11"
Tom 2: 13"x12"
Tom 3: 16"x16"

I'm with you thinking they are APK Excels or early XPK's. They appear to have the black painted interiors to hide the ugly meranti/lauan. Up till the small lug APK/XPK (Rebound 4 cat.) they were all meranti shells, the XPK getting an outer ply of birch.

Yes, the interiors are black. The owner sent me photo and I see a kind of re-rings in the bass drum.
He sent me a picture of the serial number too.

To me the look like early Projektors...lugs, BDlegs...as far as i know xpk´s and Apks had this long lugs-til about 95 and changed then to the single lugs.
Also re-rings i can not recall an Apks and Xpks- i would point to Projectors...but i could be wrong:-)

Any bet in wood type?
Can I assume this a good quality kit just for the fact of having re-rings?
I am searching for a vintage kit that's easy to tune (and that holds in tune!) and I'm expecting to get that vintage rock sound.
Is this the way to go?

As far as i know Projektors were Birch, but the black paint inside makes it hard to say! If they are Projektors you get a great Rock Kit:-) they were top of the line Drums!
Anyway that kit rocks eihter way;-)

Right, the black paint and re-rings are confusing me.
The kit is far away from me so I am trying to understand if it is worth to go pick it up.
