Now that's strange. Chrome over plastic..pitted. Weird.

Did you end up ever finding the correct lugs? I just happened upon one of these shells tonight and it looks like I need at least 3 lugs myself.

I have heard from another Ludwig collector that some bowtie lugs
used on certain snare drums produced in recent years were made of plastic also

The Ludwig Combo snare (composite black textured shell) came with plastic lugs. The Ludwig Educator snare came with plastic lugs. And I have seen one B/O badge Acrolite with plastic lugs.

Reviving this discussion. I purchased an almost identical snare kit this weekend, with ludwig plastic carrying case, sticks, etc.

Any idea on the value of this snare? Seems like the year is 1980 or thereabouts. Mike? Thank you!!

I'm surprised to learn that Ludwig used plastic lugs.

I thought they were limited to toy drums like my Mastro. It was quite a drum and endorsed by the Beatles to boot. It was a bit of a rip-off at $25. You could buy a wooden shell MIJ for about that price (Howard is the one I had after the plastic snare). Still, along with my metal lamp shade I got rockin' pretty well on Surfer Girl in the winter of 1963-64.

LOL I wonder if it was indeed endorsed by The Beatles. Everyone and their uncles were exploiting the Beatles to make a buck back in the day. I highly doubt the fab four had the time in the height of Beatlemania to endorse inferior drums

ps Mike let me post a picture of my drum later .. thanks!
