I believe it was sometime in 1968 and it would have been the aluminum version.

sure Slingerland copied the Hollywood Meazzi system (imported and mounted by Fibes)

As far as I know..
The "prototype aluminium model ran from 1968 -69.. Then the final cast & chromed version was introduced, this initially included "Patent Pending" on the BD mount inset logo.. The final "Patented" logo was introduced around mid '70-71. Cheers John Last edited by longjohn; 07-06-2022 at 02:25 AM. |

My 1968 Slingerland set has the first-year version of the Set-o-Matic system. I have spare parts for the chromed version. But, why mess with originality?

What parts do you have?

I have one--possibly two--receiver brackets and a single tom arm for the bass drum receiver and a double tom mount for a floor stand. But I have other Slingerland drums to use them with. I'm just stating that I see no need to replace the dull aluminum that came on the set with the shiny parts.
