ok... Here you go Grantro and thanks so much Rod...final update everyone on this very very rare oval shaped Deri Dami snare drum....
I finally managed to fit in a day to go and see Pete... you will recognise him as one of the musical instrument specialists on The Repair Shop program.. when it arrived from Canada back in 2020 it wasn't working and the bottom skin was obliterated and completely unsalvageable! He had to make a new flesh hoop and vellum calf head for the snare side, and fixed the snare throw so it now fully functions, then fitted a 15" snare wire and buffed the wrap and took all the parts off cleaned and lightly buffed them all. I chose to leave the original plastic stabil front head on...I am well delighted to share this final story of the original extremely rare 1950's Deri Dami oval shaped snare drum with you all..

My apologies for the late reply...I have been very busy with work...
Thank you very much for the kind words...It was an honor assisting diamond with this snare acquisition...It took quite awhile to get the snare to him due to the covid lockdown and post office/border restrictions...diamond was very patient and was a pleasure to work with... The snare looks awesome!! Great work on the restoration!! Cheers

That is really cool! I imagined a drum much like this, I'm sure many have... I figured that the different zones on the head would have very different sounds. Would like to hear this snare to find out how accurate my thinking was.
