Default Rogers Bread and Butter metal Dynasonic lug issues
Hey all, I have early bread and butter dynasonic that the lugs unfortunately are all cracked badly and broken clip plates on the inside. I ordered some of the reissued snare lugs however the holes on the snare themselves are 2 different sizes which doesn’t allow the lug insert to fit in the bottom hole closest to the reso edge. Did I grab the wrong lugs or what’s my best bet? Thanks!

Make sure there are no metal inserts in the shell holes. There were used by Rogers for the wood shells. Should tap out easily if there.

No metal inserts the bottom hole is however noticeably slightly smaller.

The brass lugs did not have the threaded bosses in them as the bolts just threaded into the flat tabs. Therefore if the holes were bigger than the bolts the lugs could be misaligned on the shell, but if you make the holes just the right size it slows down production as the worker has to align everything perfectly. What Rogers did was use spacers on one set of holes so it would line up right every time. It sounds like with your drum they drilled one set of holes smaller in leu of the spacers. Perhaps it predates the spacers. I'm not that well versed on Rogers stuff but I believe that is the reasoning behind the different sized holes.

Correct the real issue is the difference from the tabs to the lug hole insert change. It’s very early even for a B&B so that could be the case.
