Default Asba Referendum 1977 Cork Wrap

I've finally got round to sharing a post on my Asba kit, which I've owned for 20+ years but would still like to learn more about - do any members have any info on these drums/kits?

Having sold my Radio King snare drum, I'm looking for an Asba snare to complete this kit and will seek this on the WTB page. Rare, I know, but I have had a bit of luck sourcing a new bass drum hoop - I've only ever had the one!

What do you think?

Thanks in anticipation.

Very interesting, was not familiar with them, especially the tom mounts on the BD. I wish you success in finding a matching snare.

Where were these made? Never heard of them. Hmmm cork - a wrap that even Slingerland didn't dream up. And they had some odd ones in the 70s..

Lsurfa, I do not know where are you located. Maybe you are frenchman and even know about this site:
https://drum-garage.fr/
This is a must if you are an Asba owner. Salut!

Merci Morgatto,
J’habite à Folkestone, en Angleterre. Je n'ai jamais entendu parler de Drum Garage, alors merci pour le conseil - très gentil.
Meilleurs vœux,
L

Some of the finishes of Asba drums were simply incredible. The quality was also right ‘up there’ and I don’t think the brand gets the recognition it deserves - there’s also not the quantity for enough people to get excited about them! Very few people will ever be able to own an original Asba kit - I’m probably a member of a rather small club...

Asba was a well reputated brand among late 60's/early 70's jazz drummers in Europe. Today they are quite affordable. I definitely love the logo. Reminds me of a fish bone if you see it from some distance.
