I used to get my hoops from a Keller retailer few miles away from me in California. They would cut the size i wanted on the go and the price was very reasonable. ( $25 each for a 24" )
Unfortunately that place stopped reselling Keller shells. I recently bought a 24" 1969 Luddy BD and i realized the hoops were warped. I could conceivably try to repair them but ( By warped I mean they are not sitting flat on a table surface) it is hard to find the right size hoops with right thickness and width. ( most are 1.5 " wide) and they asking around $90 each. anyone has a good source for maple hoops ? |

Drum Factory Direct is another option.
https://www.drumfactorydirect.com/in...ort=20a&page=2 How warped are your existing hoops and are you sure your flat surface you are checking them on is actually flat? |

Nordic drum shells is another option. I recently bought a shell from them and it is extremely nice.

The hoops need to be 24" and at least 1 3/4 tall unfinished and uncut ok.. 10 ply or 12 ply but 12 would be better.
There is a 1/4 gap when placing the hoop on a flat surface on two side ( I use a 5/8 glass table top, just as good as granite) but that is not the only issue. I will need to take a picture and show it. I t is what you would normally get for an overtigthening with the T rods deforming the wood. |
