The term "Flash" is just Ludwig & Ludwig's name for gold sparkle or silver sparkle.The white paint should come off OK but there is always the risk of the finish coming off, as well. I suggest trying some paint remover in an inconspicuous spot. I have successfully done this on a Stipelgold drum. I think Ludwigold may be more durable.
