Re: Big R

All of you may remember the 1975-76 Big R kit I restored a few years ago. Sound-wise, there was absolutely nothing to complain about! But, as many others note, you either loved or hated the LOOK of...

Re: Manufacturing Years for Vintage Slingerland Drum Set

I would tend to agree with K.O. about the Ludwig tom holder...just leave it as-is, rather than drill more holes for a Slingerland Set-O-Matic base.

Re: Manufacturing Years for Vintage Slingerland Drum Set

Hi slingerfan!

All excellent points! I'm interested in finding out more about that bass drum with no vent and badge!

Re: Manufacturing Years for Vintage Slingerland Drum Set

Hi Leedy!

That's odd about the bass drum not having a vent hole and badge. Bass drums and snare drums always had badges...at least to my knowledge. My 1965 Modern Solo outfit has black/brass...

Re: Red Zildjians?

Hi V!

I'm not aware of any "red" Zildjian cymbals! I know that Paiste offered the "Colorsound" series of cymbals, as I had a set of those in red! It is possible that those Zildjians are...

Re: Rogers Hi-Hat Compression Springs?

Hi Derek!

Honestly, I've never had this issue. My current Swivo hi hat stand is from the late 60's and still works like new!

I've also had other Swivo stands, also with no spring issues. That...

Re: Account Suspended - Had Me Worried!!

I noticed, too. When I tried logging in I got the "database error" notice. I've seen this before, so just figured it would get fixed...which it did!

Re: Rogers 14" floor tom sale question

After seeing your pictures, I would say that selling at $500 would be giving it away! Condition is everything and your 14x14 is in excellent condition. Blue Onyx Pearl was a popular finish and you...

Re: Rogers 14" floor tom sale question

There was a time when Rogers 14" floor toms were commanding more than $1000. The market has certainly softened and I'd expect around $500+ would be fair. Condition plays into price. From just the one...

Re: Ludwig P-82 Throw-Off Replacement

So, the LR720 uses a different strainer from your LR719?

I found some pictures of the LR720. Same drum, but in a 5" depth.

Re: Ludwig P-82 Throw-Off Replacement

Hi Brian!

OK, I remember this snare drum from a previous post from you. Yes, Ludwig import LR-719! Don't worry about replacing the strainer. Just use the drum as-is and enjoy!

Re: Ludwig P-82 Throw-Off Replacement

Hi Brian!

Do you know the model number of your snare drum? I'd really like to figure out exactly what you've got.

Re: Ludwig P-82 Throw-Off Replacement

Brian,

Let us know what you decide to do about the strainer. I completely get it about just not liking it!

It's also possible that you can lengthen the upper hole with a small round file....

Re: Ludwig P-82 Throw-Off Replacement

Why Ludwig would go with such an odd spacing is beyond me! Maybe a marketing decision to keep people from using a P83/P85/P88?

What about the P82 do you not like? Looking at pictures of this...

Re: Ludwig P-82 Throw-Off Replacement

Hi Brian!

You are correct about the P82 requiring a 2-5/8" hole spacing. However, the Inde strainer only goes to 2.5". You'd have to modify the holes in the shell to accommodate the strainer.

Re: My Newest Slingerland Acquisition!

Hey larryz!

When you compare both companies wrap during this time period, they do look almost identical, suggesting they did come from the same company.

Yes, it really is cherry! I'm almost a bit disappointed that I don't get to spend some time cleaning it! LoLoLoLo

leedybdp!

No, I don't have a matching set! I just thought the snare was incredibly clean and I've never had one in Light Blue Pearl.

My Newest Slingerland Acquisition!

Hi all!

This drum just arrived today! I told myself I didn't need anymore drums, but when I saw this one, I had to pull the trigger and add it to my collection!

It's a Slingerland 1965 Deluxe...
