My early-mid 70's 3 ply kit I've assembled starting with my 4 piece kit I bought used in 1976. All era matching except the 8" & 10" dated to the early 80's.

Snare looks to be an early '70s Super Sound King (dual strainer model). Should be a chrome over brass shell.

It's my understanding that Slingerland only produced these for about 3 years in the very early 70's to get in on the acrylic craze but discontinued them because of mediocre sales. Mine are serial #'d...

My Super Sound King replacement extended snare solution.

I utilized the PureSound PF1416 and modified it as shown in pics.
The RK Clam Shell PR1416 is too long so you have to max-out both snare tension knobs to barely get the snare wires tight enough,...

PRS1416 is the discontinued part # for the RK with the metal straps.
The PRE1416 is still available. It's the same extended, 16 strand as the PRS but with no straps. The PRE's are slotted & punched...

Slingerland drum restoration is their specialty. Won't hurt to ask. SSK strainer parts are pretty hard to come by. I made my own...

Thanks, deepsoulradio! I soak the parts in 100%, undiluted dish soap for at least 24 hours. Somtimes soak them for 2 to 3 days depending depending on condition. Don't think any certain brand of soap...

Where the 60's Gretsch bass drum spurs made of aluminum or steel? I've seen both versions on Ebay claimed to be Gretsch. Also with threaded ends/pointed & some just pointed.
