Re: proud gramma.

Might as well pull all the lugs for a nice clean. Also allows you to wrap some felt on the lug springs so they stay quiet.

Plus you’ll see if any were loose. That can happen too!

Re: Combo: Wood and Die-Cast Rims?

I tried die cast rims on my DW collector maple (since sold) and didn't really detect much difference on that drum.

I am sort of keen to try them on the Acrolyte...

Re: Scarf or no scarf

Hers a thought: a bunch of shells are glued up and they get stamped at final inspection or assembly.

(It would also explain the similar overlap with badge styles)

I ordered my blue kit new and...

Re: Combo: Wood and Die-Cast Rims?

I usually see/ hear the opposite combination so I’d like to know too.

And I don’t like wood batter hoops enough to justify the expense personally. So I haven’t bothered. Maybe different drums...

That’s wonderful news and you couldn’t ask for a better holiday gift for them, or you.

Happy holidays!

Re: Ringo's cymbals in new Get Back documentary

I’m not even sure when Zildjian started inking their cymbals. I thought it was later than ‘68 and was just on the top surface (which that would be), but regardless, that does not look like the bolder...

Re: Ringo's cymbals in new Get Back documentary

Doesn’t really look like Zildjian or Paiste to me. Aren’t Paiste’s hammering more uniform? That looks like hand, or hand guided, hammering to me. Which would be similar to A Zildjian but the shape,...

Re: Leedy BDP drum set

That’s a cool kit.

One of the drum stores around here had a leery bass drum- I think it was an 18”. What I know is that it was a total bowel-shaker. Seriously serious bass drum. It was used for...

Re: This is the Display Your North or Staccato Drums Thread

First time I ever saw a North snare drum. Hard to imagine it has a “dry” tone.

I do recall a white kit in my local music store when I was a kid waiting for my private lessons… I thought it was...

Re: experts in 'really vintage' japanese drums?

I certainly appreciate you thinking of me!

I would prefer Yamaha branded ones; I can get all sorts of Gibraltar stuff locally. And not because they’re “better”, just trying to restore it correctly.

Re: experts in 'really vintage' japanese drums?

I’m not sure of the size because they didn’t come with my drum.

I guess if you asked, and they knew, it’d be a great plan!

Re: garage sale Rpgers Dynasonic help please

I solely blame my powertone snares for my tinnitus. Those rimshots would cut Diamond at 20 paces.

Re: experts in 'really vintage' japanese drums?

I was not able to locate snare wires using that number on a google search, eBay, or Yamaha's site.

Are the spec's known? If I get a set of Puresound wires for a 15" snare, will they be long...

Re: experts in 'really vintage' japanese drums?

That's an interesting wrap!

I have the "red ripple" and it looks nothing like that. Any idea what it is?

(same bass drum logo as my kit too)

EDIT- Waaaaaaaait a minute. Is that a chop-job,...

Re: More boom on a 20" bass drum?

How deep were their 20" floor toms?

It may be a converted (at the factory) floor tom shell.

If those were only 16" deep (I only played a Ludwig kit with a 20" floor tom during high school- it...
