Re: 60s and 70s Ludwigs for sale

Bass with serial 654xxx is ~'68 not '64. Maybe a typo with too many numbers, 65xxx could fit for '64.

Re: Slingerland Metal Snare - Is it Barrett Deems Model?

Adding to the above information, the OP's drum (Bill Carbone) seems to meet the criterion for a "Barrett Deems" model. The pre serial Niles badge was used '61 and '62 only, the last year for the...

Re: Slingerland Metal Snare - Is it Barrett Deems Model?

These drums are properly identified as the "New Brass Shell Snare Drum" first appearing in '58. Per Slingerland historian Dr Carl Wenk the "Barrett Deems" name was not added until '61, appearing in...

Re: Leedy Shelly Manne snare drum info please

Appears to be an unmolested "Shelly Manne model" snare drum. All the better if your friend has provenance that it belonged to the 'Manne' himself.

Re: How do you remove rust from wraps?

"Scrubbing Bubbles"? White vinegar and a toothbrush? Worth a try and will not damage wrap.

Re: Slingerland Chrome Snare trying to Identify

Mark (idrum4fun) has correctly identified your drum as a "Gene Krupa Sound King" model. He is a bit off on the year however. Serials 6052 (yours) and 5059 (Mark's) are very late '62 or early '63. ...

I was also surprised to see Sparkling Pink available that late. The Dr. called it too. http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/drcjw/article_4_finishes14.htm

Re: Slingerland 16x16 Pink sparkle floor tom

'Interesting' was not the first word that came to mind the first time I encountered a "buyer's premium". (LOL)

Re: Slingerland 16x16 Pink sparkle floor tom

Essentially the buyer pays an additional 18% of the final bid price. For example, if final bid is $100.00 then buyer actually pays $118.00.

Re: Slingerland 16x16 Pink sparkle floor tom

Don't forget the 18% buyer's premium. Serial number suggests 1968.
