Re: Rogers 22" Holiday Blue Onyx 1968

If you do a BIN or reserve at $350, you will generate zero interest. Way too high, imho. Yes, there is a lot of auction psychology at play.

A 7-day auction with an opening 99 cent bid will...

Re: Rogers 22" Holiday Blue Onyx 1968

Will be interesting to watch this - what's your plan? 99 cent opening bid, reasonable reserve, high reserve? I've got a sales price in mind just for grins.

Not a bidder, just watching - saw you...

Re: Slingerland 16x16 Pink sparkle floor tom

This is great news, always beautiful to see a kit connection happen; even better when its a bargain!

Re: any idea what this finish is called Pearl drums

What a wild finish! Absolute keeper, and I'm not normally a Pearl fan.

Re: Super-Sensitive with Plating Issues

I've restored many 60's supras and supersensitives that had major pitting. Only one was so bad that I had it dipped at a plating shop; did some felt wheel polishing on that one to bring it back to a...

Re: Advice on Selling Bass Drums

Tommyp,

You need to check your threads; this is NOT the For Sale section. Op was asking for ADVICE, and it was delivered, although now no one can see what was said. Op seems fixated on maximizing...

Re: Advice on Selling Bass Drums

You're a bit too late for sound advice Jag. Op is only here for the $$. I suggested yesterday that he should rape the basses for parts to maximize his bottom line then set the shells on fire, but...

Re: Vintage Rogers 16" floor tom, Holiday Blue Onyx

That's been pretty clear, thus the bargains. But you are moving your very high quality Rogers gear, and that in itself is your objective.

Re: Vintage Rogers 16" floor tom, Holiday Blue Onyx

And you sold that 14 under market price.

Your 16 is priced correctly.

Re: Rogers Holiday

Any Covington-built Rogers kit is worth acquiring, if you ask me. That kit in the USA would sell reasonably quickly if priced at $1300-$1400. Any more it will sit for a bit. I have no idea of the...

Re: Rogers Holiday

Crimped beds look right, badge looks right, no pitting looks right, but the baseball bat muffler is not a good sign for CoB.

More importantly, that lower lip doesn't looked turned in enough to say...

Re: Definition of the Ludwig "Super Classic" outfit!

Frankly, I would tend to politely disagree with you - the description as described in the catalog of the time sets the definition. So 60s (and late 50's as well) show the 13 16 22 as a superclassic....

Re: One word: "Plastics"

Seems like plastic is close enough to acrylic in consumer's general perception, and we've been there already.

Re: Rogers Bread and Butter Help

There are several threads both here and on DFO that show the process of strengthening B&B lugs that are in sufficiently good shape using SteelStick or Polysomething. Its a cylinder of two part...

Re: Zildjian, age & approximate value

It's a 60's stamp.

If you've got just the one 13" hat, it's worth no more than $75. On a good day.

Re: Gorgeous Kent drum kit (shell pack) on ebay

Agreed, way overpriced. A couple years ago I had an extremely nice 9x13 14x14 14x20 5x14 in BDP, blue label. Both the bass and snare were 8 lug. I was overjoyed to get $500 for the kit in a local...

Heavens, a half-price offer is appropriate. Inflation is not *that* rampant.

Re: This One Might Draw Some Interest

Definitely a decent outcome for the seller. The buyer, I'm not so sure.

I love MG just as much as the the next guy, and the sizes are the ones to get, but with the number of hours required to...

Re: The punk rocker's 1965 Ludwig restored

Nice work on the reconditioning! I as well, when working on a kit with a long questionable past, like to leave most superficial interior flaws alone. That way a future owner can see some history, and...

Given that the new Powertones are not touched by an American until they are opened by their new owner, I'm not interested in purchasing new. Not xenophobic, I just want to support home grown...

Re: What were the most innovative designs from each vintage company?

Agreed, both are extremely innovative, but the Swivo concept is far and away the more significant of the two. There's not a weak link in Swivo across the board, stylistically or functionally. It is...

Re: Status of Drum Kit(s) of Charlie Watts

Extensive collector; rest assured either Bennett or Maxwell will be brokering the sales. My bet is on Steve. He has a video where he describes doing the much-needed inventory fairly recently (within...
